Hi, I'm Cat Orloff

I am a night shifter. I work nights. I see places during odd hours and that forms my outlook on life.

My Life

from scratch

I started my life in America in a tent in El Capitano Beach near Santa Barbara, CA, as a fresh-of-the-boat immigrant with no tangible assets but a 4X5 camera that was gifted to me by my mom. I am an expert on social isolation and professional integration, which is important when I speak to clients that are overwhelmed by mainstream culture.

editor first, artist second

I am trained in all art disciplines, but I like to look at others' work more than mine. This has to do with my original education as a film director and also from my professional environment where I am consistently working with multi-camera operation. I chose photo editing as my profession because I love organizing and decoding other's ideas. My media experience is a guarantor of finding a strong curatorial solution for your work. This is not about me; this is about you.

adventurer

In the field, I work with the best photographers in the world. My field editor position requires me to work from airports, trains, boats (and even a submarine once). â€‹â€‹â€‹Each day, a new client, a new assignment. Seeing the most influential people in action - Stephen Hawking, Brene Brown, Mark Zuckerberg, Lady Gaga to name a few - allowed me to gain a perspective on what it takes to be an inspiring leader. My adventurous life is a dream for many; yet not many realize how much hard work it entailed. â€‹â€‹

mentor

After the pandemic, my work started being remote, which gave me an opportunity for a new mission: connect with those who share my passion for photography; help weathered professionals find inspiration; help beginners gain the sense of direction and confidence in their work.

Workshops

I conduct communication, conflict resolution, creativity coaching and visual intelligence workshops for organizations in transition. Non-profits, startups and corporate sectors are welcome.
